Biography
MICHELE R. PICCONE, M.D. is a Board Certified Comprehensive Ophthalmologist with expertise in cataract and refractive surgery. Dr. Piccone has performed thousands of Ophthalmic surgeries in her over 25 years of clinical practice.
Dr. Piccone received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Biology from The Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She attended Albany Medical College of Union University and had a Visiting Year at Yale University School of Medicine. Her M.D. Degree was completed in 1984.
After completing her Ophthalmology Residency at the Scheie Eye Institute of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Dr. Piccone acted as Assistant Chief of service for 2 years. During this time, she was actively involved in the surgical training of Opthalmology residents. She continued on at Scheie as a faculty member and as Director of the Medical Student Teaching Program in Ophthalmology for a decade. Under her leadership, Ophthalmology gained popularity as a favored residency for Penn medical students.
Eager to continue her own education, Dr. Piccone then pursued a 2-year Fellowship in Ocular Oncology at Wills Eye Hospital.
Throughout her career, Dr. Piccone has consistently been selected as a “Top Doc” on the Main Line by her peers.
Dr. Piccone is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She currently has surgical privileges at Wills Eye Hospital, Lankenau Medical Center and The Paoli Surgery Center. Dr. Piccone performs Lasik procedures at TLC in Plymouth Meeting, PA.
